St Paul’s Notices

Book Clearance – We are reorganising our lending library, and are about to donate a number of volumes to Book Aid. Please feel free to look through the various titles at the back of church and take any home.

We no longer have a rota for helpers to supervise and play with children after the morning service, in the south aisle.  Please could parents supervise their children, both in the church and in the garden.  Help with putting the toys away afterwards would also be appreciated.  Many thanks.

Confirmation Service, Sunday 15th July, 6.30pm, at Christ Church Chislehurst, 40 Lubbock Road, BR7 5JJ.  All are welcome to come along to support the candidates from St Paul’s.

St Paul’s Book Club next meets on Tuesday 7th August at 10.30am, when we will be hearing some poetry or prose from each other and discussing future books to read.

Coffee, Theology and Discussion - Interested in theology?  Want to learn more about the Christian faith?  In the Autumn we will be running an 8-week introductory course on Christian theology.  This is a perfect opportunity to reflect on the core themes and doctrines of our faith, in a relaxed, non-threatening environment.  All are welcome on this course, based on Professor Alister McGrath's helpful little book, Theology: The Basics.   Dates: Tuesday evenings, 25th September – 20th November (with a break for the half term).  Do ask Rev. Simon for more info.  There is a sign up sheet available at the back, or via  administrator@stpaulbeckenham.org.uk

International Evening – Saturday 29th September, from 5pm.  Save the date for St Paul’s International Evening, to be held on our harvest weekend at the end of September.  Please start thinking about what sort of dish you could bring to the Bring & Share supper, and what national dress you could wear.

Tea & Coffee – Many thanks to the Gardening Team for serving tea and coffee today.  Next week the Beckett Homegroup will be on duty.

Mission of the Month –  Wycliffe Bible Translators

Wycliffe Bible Translators has a team of 361 people from the UK and Ireland, currently serving 326 languages spoken by 461 million people across 56 countries.   Julian and Catherine are working with a group of Yakar-speaking* people helping to make God’s Word available to the people of the Caucasus in Southern Russia.  It is an area of great beauty and cultural riches, and yet is a troubled place.  Julian will tell us more at the Morning Service.  Please pray for Julian and Catherine and their family,
now living in Bournemouth.  (*Yakar is a pseudonym)
